Varanasi to Get 347-Acre Sports City Near Ganjari Cricket Stadium : ₹200 Crore VDA Project

Varanasi: The Varanasi Development Authority (VDA) has approved the establishment of a sports city on 347 acres near the ongoing international cricket stadium in Ganjari. The proposal sent by the VDA for building the sports city has received government approval with a budget allocation of ₹200 crore.
Officials stated that the plan will be implemented soon, and the project will also include acquiring additional land as needed. VDA has identified land in Ganjari, Harpur, Shivsagar, and Harsos village for this purpose. The sports city will be developed along the VDA Ring Road, covering an area of 200 meters inside and 2,500 square meters per year outside.
Last year, during a visit by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, instructions were given to expedite the process. The government has also initiated land registration procedures, and farmers will receive compensation along with basic amenities.
VDA Vice-Chairman Purn Bora mentioned that the project has been proposed with a budget of ₹200 crore and will start after discussions with farmers about compensation and development plans. Several farmers have already agreed to provide their land.
Strict action on illegal land use: Authorities have been directed to prevent illegal plotting and construction in the area. Anyone violating the rules, including planning officers, engineers, or other staff, will be held responsible.
Traffic management in the city: Due to the development, traffic in areas around Kashi Vishwanath and other city parts will be monitored closely. Roads, sewage systems, electricity, community halls, and parks will be developed to support the sports city infrastructure.
