Varanasi: Private aviation is becoming considerably more accessible for travellers flying between Varanasi and Delhi, with empty-leg seats on select turboprops and light jets being offered for approximately ₹10,000 to ₹50,000 per passenger.

The discounted fares, which can be up to 75 per cent lower than regular charter prices, are appearing on repositioning flights between Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi and Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.

An empty-leg flight occurs when a private aircraft completes a paid charter journey but must return to another city without any passengers. Since the aircraft is required to make the journey regardless, charter operators often offer the vacant cabin or individual seats at heavily reduced rates to recover part of the operating cost.

For flexible travellers, these flights provide an opportunity to experience private aviation without paying the full price of booking an entire aircraft. A standard one-way private charter between Varanasi and Delhi can cost several lakh rupees, depending on the aircraft type, travel date and availability.
