Varanasi is gearing up for Republic Day celebrations with a strong focus on women empowerment. The Varanasi Police Commissionerate has begun final preparations for the grand parade to be held on January 26, 2026, with this year’s theme centered on showcasing women power.

On Tuesday, Police Commissioner Mohit Agrawal inspected the parade rehearsals at the Police Lines campus. During the inspection, he reviewed discipline, drill, turnout, and overall arrangements, and issued clear instructions to ensure the event remains dignified, well-organized, and inspiring.

The Republic Day parade will feature tableaux based on women empowerment, highlighting the role of women in society and law enforcement. A contingent of women Black Commandos and women mounted police will also participate, symbolizing courage, strength, and discipline.

To honor women police personnel, special events have been planned. On the instructions of the Police Commissioner, a felicitation dinner will be organized on January 26 at 4 pm at his residence for the parade commander, the in-charge of the Women Power Center, and police personnel who delivered outstanding performance in 2025. Additionally, a special screening of the film “Border-2” will be held at 7 pm the same day for all women police personnel to boost their morale.

Cultural programs during the event will blend patriotism with the message of women empowerment. Street plays are also planned to spread a strong social message among the public.

During the inspection, the Police Commissioner also reviewed cleanliness, residential facilities, ongoing construction work, and the maintenance of the newly built museum within the Police Lines campus. He directed officials to further strengthen entry-exit management, CCTV surveillance, lighting, and overall security.

Senior officials including DCP Lines Pramod Kumar, ADCP Lines Vaibhav Bangar, ADCP Women Crime Namrata Srivastava, ADCP/ACP Lines Dr Ishan Soni, ACP (U/T) Mansi Dahiya, along with other officers and personnel, were present during the inspection.
