Varanasi Police Cyber Crime Cell Recovers ₹10 Lakh Lost in Digital Arrest Scam in Varanasi

Varanasi: In a major success, the Cyber Crime Cell of Varanasi has successfully recovered ₹10 lakh lost in an online fraud case and returned it to the victim.
According to an official press note issued from the office of the Police Commissioner, the complainant had reported a cyber fraud on March 19, 2026, after being duped through a digital arrest scam. Acting swiftly, the cyber crime team registered the complaint on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal and initiated immediate action.
Under the direction of senior officials, the team coordinated with banks and relevant cyber agencies to track the transaction and freeze the fraudulent accounts. Their prompt response ensured that the entire amount of ₹10 lakh was successfully recovered and refunded to the victim.
Officials stated that such quick intervention is part of an ongoing effort to tackle rising cyber crime cases and provide relief to victims. The police have also urged citizens to stay alert and report any suspicious online activity immediately.
