Varanasi Police Bust Gang Accused Of Morphing App Blackmail

Varanasi police have busted a gang accused of using a morphing app to blackmail people with manipulated images, highlighting the growing threat of digital harassment.
The accused allegedly used edited or morphed images to intimidate victims and demand money. Police are examining seized phones and digital material to understand the full extent of the operation.
Cybercrime teams have repeatedly warned people not to respond to blackmail demands and to report such cases quickly. Victims are also advised to preserve chats, payment requests and phone numbers as evidence.
The case shows how easily image-editing tools can be misused when combined with threats and social pressure. Police are expected to continue tracing others linked to the network and verifying whether more people were targeted.
