Varanasi Fruit Vendor Brutally Assaulted Near Teliyana Phatak, 3 Accused Detained by Police

Varanasi: A fruit vendor was allegedly assaulted by a group of men late at night in the Adampur police station area, leaving him seriously injured. The incident occurred around 11 pm when the victim, Sanjay Kumar Sonkar, a resident of Kajjakpura, was returning home after finishing work.

According to Sanjay’s statement, he had reached near Teliyana Phatak when he saw five men fighting among themselves. Moments later, the group suddenly turned on him and attacked him without provocation. He was beaten severely and suffered multiple injuries.

Following the assault, the victim’s family rushed to the police station and filed a written complaint against five unidentified persons. Acting swiftly, police detained three suspects and launched a formal investigation into the matter.

The injured vendor is currently undergoing medical treatment. Police officials say further legal action is underway and efforts are being made to identify and apprehend the remaining accused.
