Varanasi: Swift administrative action has been taken after Dalimss News highlighted the disappearance and delay of an honorarium file meant for the wife of a decorated martyr. District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar has suspended clerk Jainul after he was found prima facie responsible for withholding the file related to the ₹65,000 honor amount of Shaurya Chakra awardee martyr Mahendra Pratap Singh.

The issue surfaced when the martyr’s wife, Uma Singh, a resident of Mahmoorganj, arrived at the collectorate in distress after being told that her file was missing. She alleged that the file had gone missing between clerks Jainul and Manoj Pandey. The matter drew public attention after Dalimss News reported the incident, prompting immediate administrative intervention.

Within a day of the report, the missing file was traced and restored. Officials completed the formalities and forwarded the file to the treasury. By Monday afternoon, the honorarium amount was credited to Uma Singh’s bank account, and she was officially informed by the collectorate.

The District Magistrate has ordered a detailed inquiry into the episode, assigning the investigation to the ADM (Protocol). Based on preliminary findings, clerk Jainul has been suspended and attached to the joint office of the collectorate pending further proceedings. The action has triggered strong reactions within collectorate and tehsil offices, serving as a warning against administrative negligence.

DM Satyendra Kumar stated that lapses in matters concerning martyrs and their families are unacceptable. He emphasized that strict accountability will be ensured and such negligence will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
