UP Diwas Celebrations In Lucknow To Feature Varanasi's Famous Kachori, Pan, And Thandai Under ODOC Scheme

VARANASI: The upcoming Uttar Pradesh Diwas celebrations on January 24 in Lucknow will have a distinct flavor of Kashi, with special stalls dedicated to Varanasi's world-famous culinary delights.
The Delicacies:
Menu: Visitors in Lucknow will get to savor Varanasi's signature Kachori-Jalebi, Banarasi Pan, Thandai, Launglata, and the famous Heeng Kachori.
Special Inclusion: The GI-tagged Tiranga Barfi, known for its historical significance in the freedom struggle, will also be showcased.
ODOC Initiative:
Selection: The event will mark the selection process for the 'One District One Cuisine' (ODOC) initiative.
Objective: Vinod Kumar Verma, Assistant Commissioner (District Industries Promotion), stated that the goal is to provide global branding, packaging, and marketing support to Kashi's culinary arts, ensuring they reach international platforms while maintaining original taste and hygiene.
Expert View: Padmashri Dr. Rajnikant, known as the 'GI Man', emphasized that the ODOC initiative will pave the way for GI tagging of these food items, ensuring quality control and protecting the identity of traditional artisans and shopkeepers.
