Two Killed in Sector 18 Sarhaul Tanker Crash

GURUGRAM: Two men were killed near Sarhaul in Sector 18 on 1 October when their motorcycle went down after a collision with an e-rickshaw and a tractor-hauled water tanker then ran over them, police said, registering a fatal-accident FIR and impounding the tanker after the drivers fled.
The deceased were identified as Saurabh Vishwakarma, 25, and Divyansh, 24. Police said the pair were on a motorcycle when an e-rickshaw struck the bike, throwing both riders onto the carriageway. A tractor pulling a water tanker coming behind could not avoid them and ran over the fallen riders, according to the preliminary police narrative.
Both the e-rickshaw driver and the tractor-tanker driver fled the spot. Officers secured the tanker at the scene, started a search for the absconding drivers, and recorded statements from other road users. The FIR covers rash and negligent driving causing death; those remain allegations until investigation and court process finish.
Police case, vehicle and road stretch
Sector 18's Sarhaul belt mixes industrial traffic, water tankers serving nearby units, e-rickshaws and two-wheelers on a constrained road. Morning and shift-change hours often stack slow vehicles with heavier ones. Police have not blamed a single signal failure in the first note; the sequence they put on record is bike, e-rickshaw impact, fall, then tanker overrun.
Families were informed and post-mortem formalities begun as the station opened the murder-equivalent traffic sections that Haryana police use for fatal rash driving under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita framework that replaced the older IPC headings. Exact section numbers will firm up on the charge sheet once both drivers are traced.
The tanker has been impounded for mechanical inspection. Police will check brakes, load and whether the tractor was fit to haul the tank on that stretch. The e-rickshaw, if recovered, will face the same scrutiny for lighting and roadworthiness. Haryana Police case updates route through https://www.haryanapolice.gov.in/.
Witnesses who saw the crash or the fleeing drivers have been asked to contact the local Sector 18 / Sarhaul jurisdictional station. Tip lines also sit on the district portal at https://gurugram.gov.in/ for civic and traffic complaints that do not need an FIR.
This report treats the 1 October Sarhaul deaths as one police-linked incident with a clear e-rickshaw-then-tanker sequence. Separate tractor-only or tanker-only tips circulating without those names were not merged into this file. If another distinct fatal crash from the same day is independently verified with its own FIR, it can stand as its own story.
Until arrests, the public record is two named dead, one impounded tractor-tanker, two absconding drivers, and a Sector 18 FIR opened on the day of the crash. That is the enforcement frame families and road-safety trackers can follow.
Hospital and mortuary formalities for the two families ran through the day as police preserved scene photographs and CCTV pulls from nearby industrial gates. Any clip that shows the e-rickshaw or tractor before impact will matter more than street rumour about which vehicle hit first.
Road-safety audits on the Sarhaul stretch have flagged mixed slow and heavy traffic before. Tuesday's deaths put two names on that risk. Whether engineering changes follow is a separate civic file; the criminal file now is the FIR, the impounded tanker, and the hunt for two drivers.
