BENGALURU: TVS Motor Company sold 6,72,790 vehicles in September 2026, up 24 per cent from 5,41,064 a year earlier, with electric two-wheelers more than doubling. The figures come from the company's sales release of 1 October, which also summarised the July to September quarter.
Two-wheeler EV sales reached 65,799 units, a rise of 110 per cent over 31,266 in September 2025. TVS did not break that number down by model.
The September numbers
The total is 1,31,726 vehicles more than in September 2025. Two-wheelers account for 1,22,032 of the extra units and three-wheelers for 9,694.
Total two-wheeler sales were 6,45,955 units, up 23 per cent from 5,23,923. Domestic two-wheelers contributed 4,82,073 units against 4,13,279, a gain of 17 per cent. International two-wheeler sales were 1,63,882 units against 1,10,644, which is 48 per cent more.
Three-wheelers grew 57 per cent to 26,835 units from 17,141. Across all vehicle types, the international business sold 1,80,700 units, up from 1,22,108 and also 48 per cent higher.
How September compares with August
In its August release, TVS had reported 6,16,540 vehicles, up 21 per cent. September was therefore about 9 per cent higher month on month, on Dalimss's arithmetic, and its year-on-year growth was faster, at 24 per cent.
The same pattern shows in other lines. Domestic two-wheelers sold 4,33,796 units in August, up 18 per cent, so September's 4,82,073 is about 11 per cent above that, though the yearly growth rate slipped from 18 to 17 per cent. Three-wheeler growth quickened from 34 per cent in August to 57 per cent, and international business growth from 29 to 48 per cent.
Electric two-wheelers keep widening their share
The EV figure is the one that stands out. TVS reported 59,453 electric two-wheelers in August, up 137 per cent from 25,138. September's 65,799 is about 11 per cent above that.
The growth rate eased from 137 to 110 per cent because September 2025 was a higher base, at 31,266 units, than August 2025. Measured against the company's total two-wheeler sales, EVs were about 10 per cent of the September figure, against roughly 6 per cent a year ago. Those shares are Dalimss calculations from the published numbers.
For the quarter as a whole, TVS says two-wheeler EV sales grew 133 per cent to 186,000 units, using the rounded figure in its release.
What the quarter shows
TVS reported sales of 1.9 million units for the second quarter of 2026-27. Two-wheelers grew 27 per cent to 1.8 million units from 1.5 million in the same quarter last year. Three-wheelers grew 47 per cent to 78,475 units from 53,449, an increase of 25,026 units.
International business sold 539,000 units in the quarter, up 35 per cent. Against the rounded 1.9 million total, that is roughly 28 per cent of the quarter's volume. In September alone, international two-wheeler sales were about a quarter of the month's two-wheeler total.
These are company-reported sales. They are not the same as retail registrations in buyers' names, which FADA and the VAHAN dashboard track separately, so festive-season demand on showroom floors may read differently when those figures arrive. The release carries no outlook for October.
