Tamil Nadu lists 43 Super Speciality stray-round vacancies across Government medical colleges

CHENNAI: The Selection Committee has put a clear number on Super Speciality seats still open for the State quota stray round. A vacancy PDF for the 2025-2026 session lists 43 DM and M.Ch seats across Tamil Nadu Government medical colleges for online stray-round counselling.

The sheet is the inventory side of the same process that now invites in-service applications till 24 September night after the NEET-SS qualifying percentile fell to the 30th percentile. Candidates who newly qualify should read both the application notice and this vacancy table before they assume a specialty is fully closed.

College-wise and specialty-wise open seats

The table totals 43 seats. Madras Medical College shows a large share, including Cardio Vascular and Thoracic Surgery and Paediatric Surgery blocks. Stanley Medical College, Madurai Medical College, Kilpauk Medical College, Thanjavur Medical College, Chengalpattu Medical College, Coimbatore Medical College, Tirunelveli Medical College, Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College, Salem, Kanyakumari Government Medical College, KAP Viswanatham Government Medical College, Trichy, and Thoothukudi Government Medical College also appear with smaller specialty rows.

Specialties on the sheet include D.M. Hepatology, D.M. Medical Oncology, D.M. Neurology, M.Ch. Cardio Vascular and Thoracic Surgery, M.Ch. Neuro-Surgery, M.Ch. Paediatric Surgery, and M.Ch. Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Neurology alone accounts for 10 seats spread across several campuses. Cardio Vascular and Thoracic Surgery and Paediatric Surgery also show 10 seats each in the printed total row.

How in-service doctors should use the list

The vacancy PDF does not by itself open counselling. It tells applicants where State quota stray seats currently sit. Pair it with the 23 September application notice: upload documents by 11:59 PM on 24 September if you are an eligible in-service candidate for Government college Super Speciality seats, and keep this 43-seat map handy when the Committee publishes the next counselling steps.

Service doctors should also confirm that the specialty they want is actually listed as vacant in their preferred city. A lowered percentile widens who can apply; it does not create seats that are not on the matrix. Download the stray vacancy PDF from tnmedicalselection.net, mark the colleges you can realistically join, and finish the portal application before tonight's close.

The vacancy sheet is labelled tentative for online counselling of the Super Speciality 2025-2026 session. Numbers can move if DGHS or the State updates the matrix again before allotment. Still, 43 is the official working total families should plan around today.

Doctors posted outside Chennai should factor travel time for document verification and joining once allotment dates are notified. Stray rounds move quickly. Having the vacancy PDF, application acknowledgement and original certificates packed in advance is safer than scrambling after a late-night allotment SMS.

Keep a printed copy of the 43-seat table with your application acknowledgement. When stray counselling dates appear, you will not need to hunt the PDF again under a weak mobile signal at a verification centre.
