TN Super Speciality stray round: in-service applications open till 24 September night after NEET-SS cut to 30th percentile

CHENNAI: In-service doctors aiming for Tamil Nadu Government medical college DM and M.Ch seats in the stray round have until tonight to file a fresh online application. Selection Committee Notification No. 4092/SCSII(1)/2025 dated 23 September 2026 says that, after the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences reduced the NEET-SS 2025 qualifying percentile to the 30th percentile, eligible candidates can apply online from 11:30 AM on 23 September 2026 to 11:59 PM on 24 September 2026 and upload documents as per the prospectus.

Candidates who already applied at a lower percentile need not apply again. The Committee's notice expressly refers to the NBEMS notice dated 22 September 2026 and limits the present invitation to in-service candidates seeking Super Speciality seats in Tamil Nadu Government medical colleges for the 2025-2026 session.

What the NBEMS 30th percentile cut-offs say

The NBEMS notice enclosed with the State PDF states that, pursuant to a Union Health Ministry letter dated 22 September 2026 citing the Supreme Court order of 17 September 2026 in Writ Petition (Civil) No. 771 of 2026, the qualifying percentile moved from the 50th to the 30th percentile. Revised results were shared with the Medical Counselling Committee of DGHS.

Group-specific qualifying scores out of 600 at the 30th percentile include Anaesthesiology 249, Critical Care Medicine 254, ENT 247, Medical Group 175, Medical Oncology 180, Microbiology 306, Obstetrics and Gynaecology 325, Orthopaedics 256, Paediatric Group 231, Pathology 238, Pharmacology 213, Psychiatry 302, Radiodiagnosis 315, Respiratory Medicine 285 and Surgical Group 243. NBEMS also clarifies that question-paper-group ranks declared on 23 January 2026 do not change and that no fresh score cards will be issued.

A related Selection Committee vacancy sheet for the State quota stray round lists 43 Super Speciality seats across Government colleges, including blocks in Neurology, Cardio Vascular and Thoracic Surgery, Neuro-Surgery, Paediatric Surgery and other DM/M.Ch specialties at Madras, Stanley, Madurai, Kilpauk, Thanjavur, Chengalpattu, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Mohan Kumaramangalam, Kanyakumari, KAP Viswanatham and Thoothukudi medical colleges.

In-service aspirants who now clear the 30th percentile bar should finish the portal application and document upload before 11:59 PM on 24 September, keep the prospectus checklist ready, and watch the Selection Committee site for the next stray-round counselling steps rather than waiting for a second application window.

Service candidates should also verify that their cadre controlling authority papers and service certificates match the prospectus formats before uploading. Incomplete uploads are a common reason applications stall even when the percentile bar has been lowered. The Committee's message is that the percentile change widens eligibility; it does not relax document rules.
