This is the two-year degree, not the one-year speciality-diploma stack sitting next to it on the same homepage. The Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education and Research, Kilpauk, Chennai-10, has opened online applications for Post Basic B.Sc. (Nursing) 2026-2027 for government colleges and government-quota seats in self-financing private institutions — “Diploma in Nursing Course completed candidates only.” Date of Notification: 28-08-2026. Duration: two years. It is not Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery. It is not Post Basic Diploma Nursing — that is a separate prospectus and a separate fee. The prospectus prints www.tnmedicalselection.org; the live host this morning is https://tnmedicalselection.net/. The homepage apply button is https://regpmc.tnmedicalonline.co.in/PB26/ — the same URL also sits under the Post Basic Diploma apply line.

Government colleges printed in the prospectus: Tamil Nadu Government Institute of Advanced Nursing Science and Research, Chennai — 30 service + 10 open = 40; Govt. Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College, Salem — 40 + 10 = 50; printed total 90. A further table under G.O. (Ms.) No.506, 31.10.2025, adds 8 + 2 = 10 at the Chennai institute (75% service / 25% non-service), with no salary for those newly sanctioned service seats. Government-quota seats in self-financing private institutions are a separate category; this desk is not inventing a self-financing total.

Government college fee: Rs.3,000 per annum. Self-financing government-quota: Rs.60,000 per annum, excluding hostel, transport and mess. SC / SCA / ST exempted from tuition. Discontinuation after the cut-off in a government college: Rs.1,00,000. As per the resolution of the Indian Nursing Council, the last date for Post Basic B.Sc. (Nursing) admission is 30-09-2026.
