Tamil Nadu's Selection Committee under the Directorate of Medical Education and Research has opened online applications for M.Sc. Nursing 2026-27. The prospectus notified on 2 October 2026 says applications began at 12 noon on 2 October and close at 11:55 PM on 7 October 2026 on tnmedicalselection.net.

Seats covered include government medical college programmes and government-quota seats in self-financing private institutions affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. The non-refundable application fee is Rs 1,200, payable only through the online payment portal by debit card, credit card, net banking, RTGS or UPI.

Rank list and counselling dates will be notified later on the same website. The Selection Committee has said it will not contact candidates individually, so applicants must watch the official notices page through the entire admission cycle.

Who can apply

Applicants must be Indian citizens. Those claiming Tamil Nadu nativity or community reservation must upload the revenue certificates listed in the prospectus, along with Aadhaar and one supporting photo ID. Other-State candidates who studied from Class 11 onwards and completed B.Sc. Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing in Tamil Nadu are eligible only for the open category of the government and government-quota seats described in the prospectus.

The nursing degree must be from the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University or an equivalent university recognised by that university or the Indian Nursing Council. Graduates from other universities need an eligibility certificate from the M.G.R. University at admission. Aggregate marks in B.Sc. Nursing must be at least 55 percent, or 50 percent for SC, SCA and ST candidates, calculated across all semesters.

B.Sc. Nursing graduates need one year of experience after the basic degree, or one year of experience before or after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, in a hospital or recognised teaching institution. Service-candidate rules cover regular Tamil Nadu government and local-body nurses who have completed two years of service as on 31 March 2026, with certified service particulars uploaded during application.

What to finish before 7 October

Fill every mandatory field, pay the fee early enough for the bank acknowledgement to post, and save the application printout. Mere deduction from a bank account is not treated as proof if the portal does not confirm payment. Service candidates should get the forwarding authority's seal and date on service particulars before upload.

Community and nativity certificates submitted later will not be accepted. Keep scanned copies within the size and format the form allows, and re-check the portal after submission for any deficiency notice.

Specialties offered under M.Sc. Nursing follow the college-wise seat matrix that the Selection Committee will publish with the counselling schedule. Until that matrix appears, applicants should complete the common application with accurate experience dates and service status so they are not locked out when choice filling begins.

Candidates who studied outside Tamil Nadu but claim open-category eligibility through local schooling must double-check the Class 11 onwards study proof listed in the prospectus. Missing a supporting ID or a parent community certificate is a frequent reason for form rejection, and the committee has said it will not reopen rejected forms on request.

For dates, fee and eligibility clauses, rely on the M.Sc. Nursing prospectus for 2026-27 and updates on the Selection Committee website. Informal forwards that skip the prospectus PDF leave applicants without the service and marks rules colleges will enforce.
