CHENNAI: MDS aspirants filling Tamil Nadu Round 2 choices now have an updated vacancy sheet dated 23 September 2026. The Selection Committee PDF titled Tentative Vacancy for MDS Courses 2026-2027 lists open seats in Government Dental Colleges as on 23-09-2026 and continues with self-financing Government Quota and Management Quota blocks specialty by specialty.

The file replaces older snapshots for practical choice work. Yesterday's Round 2 vacancy list as on 22 September remains useful for comparison, but the 23 September sheet is the one candidates should open before they lock preferences against the Round 2 schedule already notified for late September.

What the 23 September Government college sheet shows

Government Dental College blocks cover specialties such as Public Health Dentistry, Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge, Periodontology, Paediatrics and Preventive Dentistry, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics, Oral Medicine and Radiology, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Pathology and Microbiology, and Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. Rows split Open and Service categories across OC, BC, BCM, MBC/DNC, SC, SCA and ST columns for Tamil Nadu Government Dental College and Hospital, Chennai, and Government Dental College and Hospital, Cuddalore, among others.

Specialty totals on the Government pages are modest in several subjects and larger in others, which is exactly why a day-old update matters. A single resignation under the free-resignation window or a Round 1 exit can move a category cell overnight. Candidates chasing Conservative Dentistry, Orthodontics or Oral Surgery should re-check the 23 September numbers rather than relying on screenshots taken earlier in the week.

Self-financing blocks and Round 2 discipline

Print or save the PDF, highlight only the colleges on your shortlist, and compare category columns with your communal reservation claim before submitting Round 2 choices.

Round 2 MDS counselling in Tamil Nadu already has a published schedule and an earlier vacancy list. Treat the 23 September sheet as the live matrix for locking. If you also plan to resign a Round 1 seat under the noon deadline on 24 September, finish resignation first where required, then refresh the vacancy PDF before final choice submission so you are not choosing against a seat that has already moved.

Candidates should also watch for any corrigendum if a college reports a data error after the free-resignation window closes. Until a newer sheet appears, the 23 September PDF is the baseline for Round 2 planning. Save the file with the date in the filename so you do not mix it with the 22 September version already circulating in family WhatsApp groups.

If your preferred specialty shows zero seats in Government colleges on this sheet, check the self-financing Government Quota pages before you abandon Round 2 entirely. Several specialties that look empty in the Chennai or Cuddalore Government tables still carry private-college rows later in the same document.

Service candidates should pay special attention to the Service columns on the Government pages, because those seats do not move on the same logic as Open category rows. A quick misread of OC versus Service headers is a common locking mistake in dental PG counselling.
