Tamil Nadu opens B.Pharm Lateral Entry applications; last date 2 September 5:00 pm

The D.Pharm-to-B.Pharm window is already running, and it is not last week’s four-year B.Pharm list. The Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education and Research, Kilpauk, Chennai-10, dated a prospectus for B.Pharm (Lateral Entry) 2026-2027 on 28 August 2026. Sale and download of the online application started at 12:10 pm that day. Last date for sale, download and submission is 2 September 2026 up to 5:00 pm. Merit, tentative allotment and last date of admission: “Will be intimated later.”

The cover cites G.O (D).No.987, Health & Family Welfare (PME.1), dated 21-08-2026, as amended. The course is D.Pharm to B.Pharm — direct admission to second year, duration three years. Who can apply, and what must be on the upload

The candidate should be a citizen of India and a native of Tamil Nadu. Other-State candidates cannot claim Tamil Nadu nativity. Natives who studied 6th to 12th in Tamil Nadu schools and did Diploma in Pharmacy in Tamil Nadu need not upload a nativity certificate. A Permanent Residence Certificate will not be accepted in lieu. Only natives get communal reservation. Other-State candidates who are not natives but who studied 6th–12th and D.Pharm in Tamil Nadu are treated as Open Competition.

Educational qualification: pass in Higher Secondary (or equivalent) in the prescribed group, and pass in Diploma in Pharmacy. For OC / BC / BCM / MBC / DNC: aggregate 40% in first- and second-year D.Pharm with a pass in HSC, or not less than 40% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany & Zoology or Mathematics (theory and practical) in HSC with a pass in D.Pharm. For SC / SCA / ST: pass marks in those HSC subjects with a minimum of 35%, with a pass in D.Pharm. Candidates who have passed D.Pharm should have completed 500 / 750 hours of practical training on or before 31-07-2026 and should have obtained the provisional certificate for having passed the Diploma Examination.

Upload originals in the prospectus order: HSC mark sheet; D.Pharm mark sheet(s); transfer certificate after D.Pharm; nativity if applicable; permanent community certificate if applicable; 500 / 750 hours practical-training certificate; provisional / Diploma in Pharmacy certificate; Permanent Registration Certificate registered with the Tamil Nadu Pharmacy Council. Service certificate for government servants completing two years’ continuous regular service as on 31-05-2026 has to be uploaded. Temporary-category staff are non-service. Incomplete applications are summarily rejected. No extension after 5:00 pm on 2 September.

Merit, counselling later, printed colleges

Merit is computed from D.Pharm marks, reduced to a base of 100, two decimals. Inter-se: fewer attempts in D.Pharm, then seniority in age. Online counselling (single window) follows, on a schedule to be released only on the website. Counselling processing fee: Rs.250. As per G.O.(Ms).No.361, Health and Family Welfare, 17-10-2000, 10% of seats above the sanctioned intake for B.Pharm are earmarked for Lateral Entry in government and self-financing colleges. Out of those seats, 50% in each college are reserved for service candidates in addition to service candidates selected under open.

Category I government colleges named in the prospectus: Madras Medical College, Chennai; Madurai Medical College, Madurai. Category II is government-quota seats in self-financing private institutions; the seat matrix for those “will be released during Counselling.” Government tuition after admission: Rs.3,000 per annum. Self-financing: Rs.50,000 per annum as per Fee Committee proceedings dated 28.04.2026, excluding hostel, transport and mess. SC / SCA / ST are exempted from tuition. Discontinuation after the cut-off in a government college: Rs.1,00,000 by DD in favour of “The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai – 10.”
