Thar Driver Held After Dwarka Expressway Crash

GURUGRAM: Police on Tuesday arrested Manmeet, a resident of Mundhal Khurd in Bhiwani district, in connection with an alleged hit-and-run on Dwarka Expressway in which a black Mahindra Thar Roxx is accused of striking a motorcycle on the night of 26 September and driving away after the riders fell.

The case is registered at Sector 10A police station. Officers said dashcam video helped identify the vehicle and the driver. The Thar was later recovered from a service station in Sector 93 and taken into police possession. Bike rider Rajesh Kumar and pillion Dinesh gave statements under Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita Section 180.

Police allege the SUV already carried a pending August challan for reckless driving and jumping a red light. Investigation is continuing. Police have not, in the arrest note, detailed lasting injury findings beyond stating that the riders fell when the motorcycle was hit. Any medical sequel will surface through the case diary rather than through unverified colour.

Service-station recovery and continuing probe

Manmeet was arrested from Gurugram on Tuesday, three days after the crash night. Officers said the Sector 93 service-station recovery closed the first gap between the dashcam identification and physical custody of the SUV. Forensic and mechanical checks typically follow once a vehicle enters the malkhana chain, though the public arrest note did not list every step completed so far.

This case is separate from another Thar-linked crash reported the same weekend on Golf Course Road near DLF Camellias. Sector 10A is handling the Dwarka Expressway complaint; the Golf Course Road matter sits with Sector 53 police station. Families tracking either file should not treat the Tuesday arrest as a breakthrough in the Camellias case.

For the two motorcycle riders, the next formal steps are medical and statement paperwork already under BNSS Section 180 and whatever further examination the investigating officer seeks. Police have not named any civil claim or insurance outcome in the arrest briefing. The riders' account of falling after the impact is the injury fact police have put on record publicly.

Hit-and-run complaints on the expressway often turn on whether camera footage yields a clear plate and face. Here, officers say the dashcam path worked. The pending August challan, if proved as part of the case history, will sit beside the 26 September allegations rather than replace them. Court process will decide the charges. Until then, police describe Manmeet as the arrested accused, not a convict, and the Thar remains with investigators while the challan trail and crash sequence are matched.
