VARANASI — A horrific late-night collision at the Harahua Ring Road crossing left an auto-rickshaw driver and his woman passenger with severe injuries on Tuesday night, after a speeding Mahindra Thar allegedly rammed into their three-wheeler.

Violent Impact Drags Auto For 10 Metres
According to eyewitnesses at the Harahua crossing, the high-speed Thar struck the auto-rickshaw with immense force. The impact was so severe that the auto-rickshaw was dragged for nearly 10 metres down the tarmac, leaving it completely mangled.
The passenger, identified as Sushma, a local beautician, was trapped under the overturned wreckage of the auto-rickshaw. The driver, Sevchand Patel, reportedly suffered a massive head injury and lost consciousness on impact. Sushma was returning home late at night after completing bridal makeup work at a nearby wedding ceremony when the tragedy struck.

In the immediate aftermath of the crash, the situation grew desperate as bystanders noted that no ambulances or passing vehicles stopped to assist the bleeding victims.
Recognizing the gravity of the emergency, a passing trolley driver named Mehndi Shah stepped in. With the help of onlookers, Shah loaded both the unconscious driver and the injured woman onto his trolley and rushed them to the Harahua Primary Health Centre (PHC).
