NEW DELHI: Sony India has launched three new party speakers in time for Diwali. The ULT TOWER 5 and ULT TOWER 7 go on sale on 8 October, and the much larger ULT TOWER MAX follows on 15 November. They are the second generation of Sony's ULT POWER SOUND range in India.
Sony lists two prices for each model. The ULT TOWER 5 carries an MRP of Rs 44,490 and what Sony calls a best buy price of Rs 32,990. The ULT TOWER 7 has an MRP of Rs 64,990 and a best buy price of Rs 49,990. The ULT TOWER MAX is listed at Rs 1,74,990 MRP and Rs 1,39,990 best buy (price as of 8 October 2026, 1:30 AM IST, as announced by Sony India).
The gap between the two numbers is worth reading closely. Sony's launch offers include cashback of Rs 3,000 on the TOWER 5, Rs 4,999 on the TOWER 7 and up to Rs 15,000 on the TOWER MAX, and the MAX also comes with a dual wireless microphone that Sony values at Rs 19,990. What each speaker offers
The ULT TOWER 5 is the compact one. Sony rates it at 300W, built around a new 230mm woofer, two tweeters and its ULT DUCT design for bass. It runs up to 20 hours on battery, carries an IPX4 splash rating, and measures 358 x 534 x 280mm at 12.7kg, according to Sony India. It can stand upright or lie flat, and its lighting ring now uses 56 LEDs.
The ULT TOWER 7 steps up to 420W with a 280mm woofer, two midrange drivers and four tweeters spread across the front and back for what Sony calls 360 degree party sound. Battery life is rated at up to 30 hours, and it also has IPX4 protection when standing upright, rear wheels and four handles. It gets 72 LEDs and a 10-band equaliser in the app.
The ULT TOWER MAX is a different class of product. Sony rates it at 2,150W with three 280mm woofers, two at the front and one at the back. It has no built-in battery, so it needs a wall socket, and its lighting uses 100 LEDs. Sony pitches it at hosts of large gatherings and DJs.
All three share the same party features. There are XLR and RCA inputs for a DJ mixer, USB-C for a phone or laptop, karaoke controls for mic volume and echo, and Sound Field Optimization, which Sony says adjusts output for the room and for nearby walls. Party Chain uses Auracast to link several compatible Sony speakers, and two units can run as a stereo pair.
Where to buy, and how India prices compare
Sony is selling the range through Sony Centre and Sony Exclusive stores and on Amazon. Product details are on the Sony India ULT TOWER 5 page.
These speakers went on sale in the US in September. Sony Electronics' US launch release lists suggested prices of USD 449.99 for the TOWER 5, USD 649.99 for the TOWER 7 and USD 1,499.99 for the TOWER MAX. US prices exclude sales tax while Indian prices include GST, so a straight currency conversion is not a fair test. For anyone with family flying in from the US, though, the India best buy price for the TOWER 5 is not far off the US sticker, and a 12.7kg speaker is an awkward thing to carry in luggage.
The festive season has put several big speakers in front of buyers at once. JBL refreshed its PartyBox range this week, and smaller home audio launches such as the Rs 19,999 Lumio Aura 5 HiFi speakers and the Noise HomeStage soundbar at Rs 4,999 sit at the other end of the market.
If you plan to buy on Amazon during its festive sale, read our breakdown of sale dates and card offer fine print first, because the cashback that makes up Sony's best buy price may not combine with marketplace bank offers. The ULT TOWER MAX is the one to wait on. It is not on sale until 15 November, after Diwali, so its launch offers may change by then.
