Sector 14 Roads Await MCG Resurfacing by November

GURUGRAM: Internal 18-metre roads in Sector 14 have turned into a maze of deep craters and rain-filled pits, leaving residents to guess where the next hole sits once water covers the surface. The approach near the sector's main entrance has stayed damaged for a long stretch. Locals say the road, rebuilt about three years ago, failed early and that a CM Window complaint did not bring lasting repair.

Whenever it rains, the pits disappear under brown water. Two-wheelers brake hard, cars scrape underbellies, and people walking children to school pick their way along the edge. Residents said minor patchwork about three months ago lasted only a short while. In the interim, some households even used construction debris generated inside the sector to fill the worst holes so that Gate approaches stayed barely motorable.

MCG has now allotted a contract to resurface the sector's internal 18-metre roads. A senior municipal official said water pipeline and drainage work will start soon and that the aim is to finish resurfacing by November. The catch is sequencing. New water lines and drains must go in before the final road crust, or the fresh surface will be cut open again.

Gates 3 and 5

Sector 14 RWA president Vikas Verma said the association has asked the road contractor and an MCG official for temporary repairs near Gate 5 and on the Lady Fatima School road at Gate 3 so that those stretches stay usable until the full utility-and-resurfacing package is done. Without that stopgap, school runs and medical trips keep hitting the same hidden craters after every shower.

Sector 14 sits beside the battered MG Road corridor that GMDA is separately upgrading. Residents therefore face a double bind: broken internal lanes at the gates and a cratered arterial outside. Coordinating MCG's utility digging with GMDA's Old Gurugram road package will decide whether the sector gets one continuous season of dust and diversions or a staggered mess that lasts into winter.

Parents on the Lady Fatima School run already treat Gate 3 as a low-speed obstacle course. Temporary cold mix on the deepest pits would not replace the November resurfacing target, but it would cut axle damage and sudden braking until the water line trench is ready.

The municipal promise is on record: allotment done, utilities first, resurfacing targeted by November. What residents will measure is simpler. Can an ambulance clear Gate 5 after a night of rain without guessing the depth of the next pit? Until that answer is yes, Sector 14's internal roads remain a daily hazard dressed up as a works programme.

MCG's November target will slip if the water-line trench opens late or if the road contractor waits on drawings that never leave the ward office. Publishing a simple weekly site note for Gates 3 and 5 would tell residents whether the temporary fill happened and when the utility cut is due.
