Varanasi: In an important update for railway passengers, Indian Railways has announced changes to the train number and terminal station of the Rajgir–Varanasi Budh Purnima Express. The train that previously operated with numbers 14223/14224 will now run as 15137/15138.

As part of the revised arrangement, the train will no longer halt at Varanasi Junction railway station. Instead, it will now originate and terminate at Banaras Railway Station. The new system has come into effect from March 8.

According to the updated timetable, train number 15138 will depart from Banaras Railway Station at 8:15 pm and reach Rajgir at around 6:00 am the following morning, stopping at its scheduled stations along the route.

Similarly, train number 15137 will depart from Rajgir at 9:35 pm and arrive at Banaras at 7:15 am the next morning. During this journey, the train will pass through Varanasi Cantt railway station without stopping.

Railway officials stated that the change has been implemented temporarily due to redevelopment work at Gaya Junction railway station. Because of the ongoing construction activities, the train is currently being operated through the Sasaram–Ara route.

Officials added that this arrangement will remain in place until March 21, after which normal operations may resume depending on the progress of the redevelopment work.
