Varanasi: Residents of the Ambiyamandi area in Baluabir Ward staged a protest on Wednesday over a mini tubewell that has reportedly remained non-functional for the past six months. The affected tubewell, located in the Chikwan Tola locality, has caused water supply difficulties for local households, prompting residents to raise slogans and demand immediate action.

According to locals, repeated complaints about the faulty mini tubewell did not yield a permanent solution, leading to growing frustration among the community. The protest remained peaceful as residents urged authorities to resolve the issue at the earliest.

Responding to the concerns, officials stated that the existing mini tubewell was very old and had outlived its utility. They informed that arrangements are being made to install a new and larger tubewell in the area to improve water supply. Authorities further said that the tender process has already been completed and work on installing the new tubewell will begin soon.

Residents have expressed hope that the new installation will address the ongoing water shortage in the locality.
