National Poshan Maah 2026 to Launch From Rudraksh Centre With Union Minister and CM

The ninth Rashtriya Poshan Maah is set to open from the Rudraksh International Cooperation and Convention Centre in Varanasi on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, with Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath listed among the principal guests for the national launch. Hosting the month’s opening in Kashi puts the city’s convention campus on the national nutrition calendar rather than treating Poshan Maah as a Delhi-only stage show.

The theme framed for this year’s drive centres on Anganwadi responsibility — carried in briefing language as Hamari Anganwadi Hamari Jimmedari — and the launch also marks ten years of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. Ministry messaging around the month has stressed supplementary nutrition guidelines and frontline Anganwadi accountability alongside the anniversary of the maternity benefit scheme. Minister of State Savitri Thakur and Uttar Pradesh Minister Baby Rani Maurya figure in the wider guest line reported for the Varanasi programme.

Rudraksh ICC has become the default large-format civic hall for national and state events routed through Varanasi. A nutrition-month launch there is less about new brick-and-mortar and more about whether Anganwadi centres across Uttar Pradesh — and the Varanasi urban and rural ICDS network in particular — leave the ceremony with clearer monthly targets on weighing, counselling and take-home rations.

PMMVY’s tenth year is the policy hook that lifts the event above a routine September ritual. Maternity cash support only works when eligible women are registered early and paid on time. Pairing that anniversary with an Anganwadi-responsibility theme is a deliberate signal: the frontline worker and the maternity scheme are being sold as one delivery chain for the month.

For Varanasi’s own desk, the story is that a national Poshan Maah curtain-raiser is landing on a city still managing monsoon flood camps and colony waterlogging. Nutrition messaging in flood weeks has to compete with relief kitchens and disrupted Anganwadi sessions in waterlogged wards. The launch does not automatically restore every disrupted centre. It does put ministers on record in Kashi on the same morning the month begins.

District programme officers will be watched for whether growth-monitoring calendars for September are issued the same week as the Rudraksh event. A national dais without a local calendar is only a photograph.

Local ICDS supervisors and Anganwadi workers will measure the month by growth-monitoring camps held, pregnant women counselled and hot-cooked or take-home rations actually moved — not by the size of the Rudraksh dais. National launches succeed in this city when the next thirty days show village and ward centres open on schedule.

Wednesday’s programme at Rudraksh is therefore a national nutrition opener hosted in Varanasi, themed on Anganwadi duty and timed to PMMVY’s decade mark.
