VARANASI: Unreserved special trains have been announced for PET examination candidates travelling between Ballia and Kanpur through Varanasi. The outward service will run on October 24, 29 and 31, with return journeys scheduled for the following days.
Northeastern Railway’s Varanasi division spokesperson Mahesh Gupta identified the outward train as 05153. It is scheduled to leave Ballia at 7.30 pm, reach Varanasi Junction, or Cantt, at 10.20 pm and arrive at Kanpur Central at 6 am the next morning.
After the Cantt stop, the announced route includes Banaras, Gyanpur Road, Prayagraj Rambag and Prayagraj Junction before Kanpur Central. The overnight journey is intended to provide another travel option around the examination dates.
Return service 05154 is scheduled to leave Kanpur Central at 12.55 pm on October 25 and 30 and November 1. Its announced arrival at Cantt is 9.10 pm, followed by Ballia at 1.15 am after midnight.
Keep the change of date in view
An overnight timetable involves two calendar dates. For the October 24 departure from Ballia, the scheduled Kanpur arrival falls on October 25. The same next-morning pattern applies to the October 29 and 31 outward departures.
On the return leg, a departure from Kanpur on October 25 reaches Ballia after midnight on October 26 under the announced timetable. Reading the date only at the starting station can otherwise lead to confusion when arranging a pickup or onward journey.
The trains are described as unreserved specials. An examination admit card does not, by itself, establish a reserved berth or a particular place on a train. Candidates should check the railway’s applicable ticketing arrangement before travelling.
Cantt and Banaras are different stops
The route names both Varanasi Junction and Banaras. These are separate stations, and passengers should use the station shown for their intended boarding or alighting point. A general instruction to reach a Varanasi station is not sufficiently precise for this journey.
The announcement does not provide a confirmed platform number or a guarantee about crowd levels. Railway departure information should be checked close to travel, particularly when a special service has been added to meet examination demand.
Candidates also need to match the train journey with the examination centre printed on their own admit card. A train’s arrival in Kanpur does not determine how long the remaining journey to an individual centre will take.
The immediate addition is three outward and three return runs on the Ballia–Kanpur corridor. The announced train numbers and dates give candidates a starting point for planning, with current running information and their own reporting deadline determining the final travel choice.
