Varanasi: In Varanasi, the anti-corruption case involving the arrest of a bribery-taking sub-inspector has taken a new turn. Police officers and inspectors who reached the police station to support the arrested officer are now under the scanner themselves.

After the Anti-Corruption Unit caught the sub-inspector red-handed while accepting a bribe, several cops allegedly gathered at Lalpur–Pandeypur police station and created pressure on the investigating team. A local advocate has filed a complaint on the IGRS portal and written to the Police Commissioner, demanding action against those officers for misconduct and indiscipline.

The complaint alleges that the officers tried to influence the investigation, created chaos at the police station, and attempted to shield the accused. CCTV footage and social media videos of the incident are being cited as evidence.

Senior police officials have taken note of the complaint, and an internal inquiry is expected. Authorities have said that no one will be spared if found guilty, reinforcing the government’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
