UGC-NET June 2026 e-certificates out for JRF, Assistant Professor and PhD qualifiers

NEW DELHI: Candidates who qualified in UGC-NET June 2026 can now download their certificates. The National Testing Agency said in a public notice dated 24 September that e-certificates for the cycle are live on ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

The release covers every paper in the cycle. That includes the CBT sittings on 22, 23, 24, 25, 29 and 30 June and 5 July 2026, and the re-examination held on 9 and 10 September for English, Commerce and Sociology. Candidates from those three subjects waited nearly three weeks longer than the rest for their scorecards, so for many of them this is the first formal document from the cycle.

NTA is issuing four kinds of certificate. The first is for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) only. The second combines JRF with eligibility for Assistant Professor. The third is for eligibility for Assistant Professor and admission to PhD. The fourth is for admission to PhD only. Which one a candidate gets depends on the category in which they qualified.

Where to download and whom to write to

A link titled Issuance of e-Certificates for UGC-NET June 2026 Examination is now on the UGC-NET home page. The agency also runs a separate e-certificate portal at ecertificate.nta.ac.in, which is linked from the same page. Candidates who cannot download their certificate have been asked to email ugcnet@nta.ac.in or ecertificate@nta.ac.in. The notice does not give a deadline for downloading, and it does not mention a physical copy.

Candidates would do well to save the file and keep a printout. A university processing a PhD application or a college recruiting Assistant Professors may ask for the certificate alongside the scorecard when documents are checked.

How many qualified this cycle

NTA's own results releases give the scale. The 28 August press release covered 84 subjects. It recorded 7,73,806 registered candidates and 6,07,151 who appeared. Of these, 4,241 qualified for JRF and Assistant Professor, 45,904 for Assistant Professor and PhD admission, and 97,434 for PhD admission only. The exam in those subjects was held at 655 centres in 286 cities.

The three re-examined subjects were declared on 17 September. English, Commerce and Sociology together had 1,96,491 registered candidates, of whom 1,20,355 sat the retest at 454 centres in 272 cities. The agency listed 824 as qualifying for JRF, 11,610 for Assistant Professor and 23,154 for PhD only. Women made up 65.93 per cent of registrations in these three subjects, against 55.59 per cent across the 84 subjects.

Added up, the two releases show 1,83,167 candidates qualifying in one category or another across the 87 subjects, and each of them should now find a certificate waiting on the portal.

Verification still to come

Both results releases carried the same caution, and it applies to the certificates too. NTA said the eligibility criteria, self-declarations and documents of qualified candidates will be checked by the concerned authorities as per the norms in the UGC-NET June 2026 information bulletin. A certificate therefore does not settle eligibility on its own. A university or employer can still ask for degree mark sheets, category certificates and proof of age when a candidate applies.

Candidates who notice an error in their name, category or subject on the certificate should write to NTA at the two email addresses in the notice and keep a copy of the complaint.

The agency has asked candidates to keep checking the official NTA website for further updates on the cycle.
