NBEMS to run FMGE thrice a year; extra 31 Oct

The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination will now be held three times a year. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences dated a one-page notice on 28-08-2026 under the subject “Conduct of Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE)-regarding.” The English paragraph is plain: NBEMS “has decided to conduct the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) thrice every year, instead of biannually, through a computer-based platform at various examination centers across the country.”

That is the decision. The same page then dates one extra paper this year and moves the paper that had been sitting on 9 January 2027. It does not open a registration window. It does not publish an Information Bulletin. Registration and the bulletin are still missing from this page.

The extra 31 October paper, and the moved January date

“Accordingly, an additional FMGE is scheduled to be conducted this year on 31-10-2026.” That is the only new exam date printed. The notice does not print a city list, a shift time, or a fee. It does not say whether the October paper uses the same scheme as the last FMGE. Those details, the page says, belong in the Information Bulletin.

The next sentence moves a date that was already public. “FMGE which was earlier scheduled to be conducted on 09-01-2027 shall be rescheduled to a later date in January/February 2027, details of which will be notified in due course.” The 9 January 2027 sitting is not cancelled into a vacuum. It is moved inside a later January-or-February 2027 window that has not yet been named. No January Friday or February Sunday is printed on the page.

Please refer to the Information Bulletin for further details, “which shall be published in due course on the NBEMS website at https://natboard.edu.in.” Shall be published. Is not published in this file. A candidate who needs the syllabus, the internship cut-off, the fee, the identity-proof list or the registration clock has to wait for that bulletin. Those fields are not borrowed here from an older FMGE bulletin.

The homepage row on 30 August 2026 morning IST still flags the 28-08-2026 FMGE notice as new. One page. Hindi and English in parallel. The Hindi block says the same three things the English block says: three times a year instead of two; an extra paper on 31-10-2026; the 09-01-2027 date moved to a later January/February 2027 date to be notified.

This is not a NEET-PG story. NEET-PG 2026 is a different NBEMS paper, with its own 29 August test-day advisory. Do not read the 30 August postgraduate exam into the FMGE calendar. Do not treat 31 October 2026 as a registration deadline. It is the additional examination date. Registration, if and when it opens, will be in a bulletin that is not on the site yet.
