Mr. Jagdeep Madhok Appointed President of Uttar Pradesh Masters Athletic Association

Mr. Jagdeep Madhok, a celebrated educationist from Varanasi, national rifle shooter, and key leader associated with the Sunbeam Academy group of schools, has been appointed President of the Uttar Pradesh Masters Athletic Association by the Indian Masters Athletic Federation.

His appointment marks a proud moment for Varanasi’s education and sports community, reflecting his longstanding contribution to academics, leadership, and sporting excellence.

The Uttar Pradesh Masters Athletic Association functions as the state unit of the Masters Athletics Federation of India (MAFI), the apex autonomous body governing track and field athletics for masters (veteran) athletes aged 35 years and above. MAFI, established in 1990, organises national masters championships, maintains records and rankings, and selects athletes to represent India at international events such as the Asia Masters Athletics Championships and World Masters Athletics Championships. State units play a vital role in promoting competitive athletics and fitness at the grassroots level by conducting state-level meets, training programmes, and talent identification initiatives aimed at encouraging healthy ageing through sports.

A meeting was held in Varanasi on the occasion, which was attended by Dr. Vinay Singh, Rajesh Singh, Anand, state champion Rajat, Shaan Shah, Surendra Singh, Dinesh Jaiswal, Neelu Mishra and Anand Dubey.

This appointment is expected to give further impetus to masters athletics activities across Uttar Pradesh.
