Missing for 52 Days: Family of BJP Booth President’s Son Demands Action

Varanasi — The family of a 23-year-old man who has been missing for the past 52 days has raised serious concerns over the lack of police action, alleging administrative negligence despite repeated appeals to authorities.
Rishabh Maurya, son of Ambika Maurya, a BJP booth president and local trader, went missing on February 11. According to the family, Rishabh left his home in the Diwan Ganj locality under the jurisdiction of Adampur Police Station at around 12 noon to appear for an SSC examination in Jhunsi, Prayagraj. However, he never returned home.
Family members claim that despite approaching the police multiple times over the past several weeks, an FIR has not yet been registered. They also submitted complaints to the Police Commissioner and even sent an appeal to the Chief Minister’s residence. Additionally, a complaint was filed through the state government’s grievance portal, but the family was shocked to receive a message stating that the issue had been resolved, even though Rishabh remains missing.
Ambika Maurya, Rishabh’s father, is associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party as a booth president and is also a respected trader as well as a member of the Pahariya Vyapar Mandal. The family stated that they have long been associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, yet they claim their pleas have not received adequate attention from the administration.
The family has also expressed suspicion toward a particular individual they believe may be involved in Rishabh’s disappearance. However, they allege that the police have not taken any concrete action to investigate the matter thoroughly.

During a press interaction, the grieving family appealed to authorities to take decisive action within the next 72 hours. They warned that if no meaningful steps are taken, the family will be compelled to protest on the streets.
Meanwhile, the prolonged disappearance has left the family in deep distress, raising serious questions about the pace of the investigation and administrative response in the case.
