GURUGRAM: The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) on Monday sealed four commercial properties in Sectors 16 and 61 for not paying property tax, with dues against them adding up to a little over Rs 1.5 crore.
Two of the units are in Zone 5. According to the corporation's Zone 5 update, SICOM Limited in Sector 16 owed Rs 83,56,982, and Tecpro Systems Pvt Ltd, listed at JMD Pacific Square in Sector 16, owed Rs 37,59,951. Together that is Rs 1,21,16,933. The SICOM dues alone, at about Rs 83.6 lakh, make up more than half of the day's total.
The other two are office units of Saiexpo Overseas Pvt Ltd at Centra One in Sector 61, which falls in Zone 6. MCG said unit SF-27 had Rs 15,15,723 outstanding and unit FF-18 had Rs 15,31,448, a total of Rs 30,47,171. Both were sealed.
Put together, the four properties owe Rs 1,51,64,104. In each case the corporation has listed the unit by its property ID, the same number owners use to look up and pay their tax online.
MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya directed the owners concerned to deposit the outstanding amounts. He said that where tax is not paid within the stipulated period, the corporation will take enforcement action under the applicable rules, and urged all property owners to check their dues regularly.
Sealing is among the stronger tools the corporation has under the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act for tax that stays unpaid after notices. A sealed unit generally stays shut until the owner clears the dues or settles the account with the corporation.
Commercial buildings are taxed at higher rates than homes under the state's rules, which is one reason the biggest arrears tend to sit against offices, shops and industrial units rather than houses. Monday's list fits that pattern, with all four sealed units in commercial use.
MCG officials said property tax is one of the corporation's main sources of revenue and pays for sanitation, roads, drainage, street lighting and other civic services. The corporation collected more than Rs 350 crore in property tax in 2025-26, officials said, and has set a target of Rs 325 crore for 2026-27. About Rs 213 crore came in during the first quarter of this year alone.
Seva Setu camps from today
Alongside the sealing, the corporation is holding a three-day Seva Setu Abhiyan camp this week where residents can sort out property tax, water bill and street vending matters on the spot, according to the MCG notice on the camps.
The camp is at the Community Centre in Sector 27 for Zone 6 on Tuesday, 6 October. On Wednesday, 7 October, it moves to the Community Centre in Sector 14 for Zone 5, and on Thursday, 8 October, to the Community Centre in Sector 4 for Zone 3.
For property owners, these camps are a chance to check the dues shown against their property ID, correct errors in the record and pay without a trip to the zonal office. Street vendors can take up vending-related matters with the corporation's staff at the same camps. Only three of the corporation's zones are on this week's list, so owners in other zones will still have to use the online portal or their zonal office.
Residential owners should also check whether they are eligible for concessions under the state's property tax policy. Women homeowners, for instance, are entitled to a 25 percent rebate, as Dalimss explained in its guide to the women homeowners' property tax rebate. The same rules brought in revised valuation rates across Gurugram and Manesar, so owners who have not looked at their bill since the change may find the amount has moved.
Water dues are getting the same attention. Earlier this month the corporation began a drive against unpaid water bills and illegal connections, covered in our report on the MCG water dues drive.
MCG has urged owners to pay on time and to check their tax details and outstanding dues on the corporation's property tax portal regularly.
