MCG Names Sanitation Nodal Aides in All 36 Wards

GURUGRAM: The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram on Monday designated Sanitation Nodal Assistants across all 36 wards, giving assistant sanitation inspectors a clearer field brief to inspect work, log gaps and chase complaint closure until the problem is actually fixed.
Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya issued the order. Under it, assistant sanitation inspectors will act as Sanitation Nodal Assistants for their wards. Their job is not limited to a desk list. They are expected to walk the beats, check whether sweeping, lifting and drain-mouth cleaning are happening as assigned, and put deficiencies on record instead of waiting for another round of resident complaints to pile up.
Inspections must be entered on the MCG Inspection App, covering what was checked, what was found wanting and what action followed. If a shortcoming sits with field staff or a contracted agency, the nodal assistant has to flag it, follow the correction and only then treat the matter as closed. Marking a ticket resolved on paper while the heap or clog remains on the street will not meet the new standard.
Serious, recurring or long-pending complaints are to be escalated to the concerned joint commissioner. The order also builds a daily reporting line. Issues that need immediate intervention must reach senior officers without waiting for the routine end-of-day note. That change matters in a city where one blocked gully trap or an overlooked garbage vulnerable point can turn a short shower into a flooded lane.
Dahiya linked the appointments to accountability in the field. Ward-wise nodal aides, he said, should make it easier to spot gaps early, track complaints and push time-bound fixes. He asked officials to act at once on serious or repeating problems and to keep following them until the deficiency seen on site is removed.
The move lands while sanitation pressure on the city remains high. Household waste and street sweeping have been under strain during the ongoing municipal workers' agitation, and civic teams have been relying on stop-gap deployments in several pockets. A ward-level inspection layer will not end that dispute, yet it creates a named officer in each ward who can no longer claim that a dirty stretch sat outside anyone's brief.
Residents who use the civic complaint channels often say the hardest part is not filing a request but proving that the same spot was cleaned for real. The new rule that a complaint stays open until the deficiency is rectified is aimed at that gap. Whether the Inspection App entries match what people see on their lanes will decide if the order changes daily life or only the paperwork.
For now, the civic peg is practical. Every ward has a designated Sanitation Nodal Assistant. Field checks are to be logged. Escalation paths to joint commissioners are written down. Daily reports and urgent alerts are part of the same chain. The test will show up in the next wet week and in the next garbage vulnerable point that used to sit unattended between complaint cycles.
