MCC posts NEET MDS Round 2 final result; joining window runs till 30 September

NEW DELHI: The Medical Counselling Committee has put out the final result of Round 2 of NEET MDS counselling 2026, and allotted candidates now have until 30 September to report and join.

The 174-page result, uploaded on the MCC website on 23 September, covers the 50 per cent All India Quota seats and seats in deemed universities, central universities and the Armed Forces Medical Services. For each candidate it shows the Round 1 seat and status, the Round 2 seat if any, the allotted category and option number, and a remark.

What the remarks show

Dalimss tallied the remarks column across the document. It records 333 fresh allotments and 280 upgrades, where a candidate who held a Round 1 seat has moved to a preferred option. Another 482 candidates retained their Round 1 seats, and 496 are marked as having not opted for upgradation. The document marks 69 as not allotted in this round.

These are Dalimss counts of the printed remarks, not an official MCC summary, and MCC has not published round-wise totals alongside the result.

Seats on the list come from several quotas, listed in the document's key. Besides All India, they include Delhi University, IP University, Aligarh Muslim University and Banaras Hindu University quotas, Armed Forces Medical seats, Jain and Muslim minority quotas, NRI seats and self-financed merit seats in deemed universities.

Joining window and session start

The MCC's Round 2 schedule for MDS, issued on 10 September, set reporting and joining from 24 to 30 September 2026. Institutes are to verify joined candidates' data on 1 October, the same day MCC shares that data. The academic session for MDS courses begins on 1 October.

The schedule's note directs participating institutes and colleges to treat Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted holidays as working days so that the timeline holds. For candidates, that means the coming weekend counts as reporting time.

A rule on changed category or quota

The result carries a note that affects a specific group. Candidates whose category or quota has changed within the same institution and subject must get an online generated relieving letter and then get admitted against the changed seat from the allotted institution. They must obtain a fresh online generated admission letter for the new category or quota seat. If they do not, the allotted seat will be cancelled for non-admission.

A candidate who stays in the same college and subject may assume nothing needs to be done. The note says otherwise.

State counselling running alongside

State counselling for MDS Round 2 was scheduled between 18 and 24 September, with the same 30 September last date for joining. Some states have linked their own processes to the AIQ round. In Andhra Pradesh, for instance, Dr NTR University of Health Sciences has opened a free exit window until 3 PM on 28 September for candidates who took a Phase-I state seat and now want to join through AIQ Round 2.

Candidates should download their allotment letter from the MCC portal, check the college's reporting instructions, and carry original documents. Anyone who has been upgraded should follow MCC's instructions on relieving from the Round 1 seat before joining the new college.
