MacBook Neo India price: Rs 79,900, Amazon Rs 71,990

NEW DELHI: Apple sells the MacBook Neo in India at Rs 79,900 for the 256GB model, and the Rs 5,000 instant card cashback brings the effective price down to Rs 74,900. Amazon India, meanwhile, has listed the same 256GB laptop at Rs 71,990 as an early deal ahead of its Great Indian Festival.

Apple India pricing

On the Apple India store, the MacBook Neo starts at Rs 79,900 with 256GB of storage. The 512GB version is priced at Rs 89,900, so the extra storage costs Rs 10,000. There are four colours to choose from: Silver, Blush, Citrus and Indigo, each with a colour-matched keyboard.

The cashback is applicable on American Express, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank cards, with a minimum transaction value of Rs 10,001, as listed on Apple's ways to buy page. Apple also lists education savings on the Neo page for students and teachers.

The Amazon early deal

In its Great Indian Festival announcement, Amazon India lists the 2026 MacBook Neo 13-inch with the A18 Pro chip, 8GB unified memory and 256GB SSD at Rs 71,990. The festival itself begins on 8 October, and Amazon says customers get a 10 per cent instant discount with SBI credit and debit cards and EMI transactions during the sale.

Amazon does not say in that announcement whether Rs 71,990 already includes a bank offer, so it is worth opening the product page and checking the checkout price for your card. The listed price is Rs 7,910 below Apple's own sticker price, and still Rs 2,910 below Apple's effective price after cashback.

What the laptop offers

Apple pitches the MacBook Neo as an entry-level Mac, and the company calls it "an amazing Mac at a surprising price". It has a 33.02 cm (13-inch) Liquid Retina display rated at 500 nits of brightness, and it runs on the A18 Pro chip, the same family of silicon Apple has used in iPhones. Apple quotes up to 16 hours of battery life.

The laptop has two USB-C ports and a headphone jack, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, two side-firing speakers and dual microphones. One model includes Touch ID. The enclosure is recycled aluminium, which Apple says makes up 60 per cent of the laptop's weight, the highest share in any Apple product so far.

Apple Intelligence is built in, and the laptop runs macOS with free software updates. For students and first-time Mac buyers, the pitch is simple: everyday work, video calls, browsing and light creative tasks, without paying MacBook Air money.

For a sense of where this sits in Apple's line-up, the MacBook Air 13-inch and 15-inch models carry a higher Rs 9,000 cashback on the same page, which reflects their higher prices. The Neo is the entry point for anyone who wants macOS without stretching the budget.

Which route makes sense

If you prefer buying straight from Apple, the store gives you the full set of colour and storage choices, plus the cashback and education pricing. If the cheapest number matters most, the Amazon listing is lower on paper, but it is limited to the configuration Amazon names, the 8GB and 256GB version, and the sale terms can change.

Buyers who need 512GB should note that Amazon's announcement does not list that variant. Compare the final payable amount, return terms and warranty handling on both sides before deciding.
