New Delhi: Amid rising demand for LPG cylinders across the country, authorities have issued a warning about a new cyber fraud targeting consumers through fake gas cylinder booking calls and messages.

According to an advisory issued by the Delhi Police, cyber criminals are impersonating LPG service providers and sending fraudulent messages or making calls related to gas cylinder booking and delivery. These messages often contain suspicious links that appear to be associated with legitimate LPG booking services.

Officials have warned that once users click on these links or share sensitive information such as OTPs, banking details, or personal data, fraudsters may gain unauthorized access to their bank accounts. In several cases across the country, such scams have resulted in financial losses for unsuspecting consumers.

The advisory urges people to remain cautious and avoid interacting with unknown links related to LPG bookings. Authorities have specifically advised consumers not to share OTPs, bank details, or personal information with anyone claiming to represent gas agencies over phone calls or messages.

Consumers have been encouraged to book LPG cylinders only through official mobile applications, verified websites, or directly through their authorized gas agencies. Using trusted platforms significantly reduces the risk of falling victim to online fraud.

Officials further stated that anyone receiving suspicious calls or messages related to gas cylinder booking should immediately report the matter to the cyber crime helpline or inform local police authorities.

With cyber fraud cases increasing across India, authorities continue to stress the importance of digital awareness and caution while dealing with online services. Staying alert and verifying information before clicking on links can help consumers protect themselves from potential scams.
