Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) has opened the second phase of web counselling for management quota MDS seats in Telangana's private dental colleges. Eligible candidates can exercise options from 2 pm on 6 October till 2 pm on Thursday, 8 October 2026.

The KNRUHS notification dated 6 October, issued by the Registrar in Warangal, covers MQ1 and MQ2 (NRI) seats in private dental colleges affiliated to the university, including the Army College of Dental Sciences in Secunderabad. Options are exercised on the private MDS portal, pvttsmds.tsche.in.

Who can take part

Only candidates in the final management quota merit list can exercise options, and within that list the university has drawn some firm lines.

Candidates allotted a seat in the first phase who joined the course can exercise options again, which lets them try to slide to a better subject or college. Those allotted a seat in the first phase who did not report, or who later discontinued, cannot. Candidates who did not exercise web options at all in the first phase are also excluded, under G.O.Ms.No.107 of the Health, Medical and Family Welfare department dated 22 August 2022.

Candidates are considered only for the categories they registered for and are eligible in. The eligibility conditions are in the university's admission notification of 8 September.

63 seats on the matrix, and more may open

A seat matrix for the second phase, also dated 6 October, shows 63 vacant seats across nine private dental colleges. Periodontics has the most with 12, followed by prosthodontics with 9. Oral and maxillofacial surgery and oral pathology have 7 each; community dentistry, conservative dentistry, oral medicine and radiology, and orthodontics have 6 each; and paedodontics has 4.

The university's advice is not to be guided by these numbers alone. Seats will open up as candidates slide from their first phase allotments, and unfilled service seats will be added. Candidates are asked to exercise options for every course and college they would actually join, whether or not a vacancy shows today. There is no cap on the number of options.

The flip side is stated just as plainly. If a candidate is allotted a seat in this phase, the first phase seat is cancelled automatically and goes to someone else. A candidate who is allotted a seat as per their options but does not join will not be allowed to exercise options in later phases. The university has also published a list of candidates who did not report after the first phase.

Fees and paperwork

The university fee is Rs 55,000 for MQ1 and Rs 80,000 for MQ2, paid online before the allotment order can be downloaded. Those who paid in the first phase do not pay again. Tuition fee is paid at the college at the rate fixed under G.O.Ms.No.124 dated 4 September 2026. Fees once paid are not refunded.

Management quota seats at the Army College of Dental Sciences are meant for wards of Army personnel under AWES regulations. A candidate allotted an NRI (MQ2) seat must produce the original sponsorship letter from the NRI relative, with a copy of the sponsor's passport, residence proof or bank statement.

A candidate who slides to a new college has to get relieved by the first phase college, obtain a custodian certificate, collect the fees paid and report to the new college before the last date. Certificates are verified at the allotted college, and any discrepancy can lead to cancellation of the allotment.

Practical points before Thursday

The notice asks candidates to exercise options from a computer, not a phone or tablet. When options are saved, an OTP in the form of a six-letter code in capital letters goes to the registered mobile number, and candidates should print the saved list. Allotment details are sent by SMS and shown on the portal.
