Kashi Vidyapith Counselling for Nine Courses

VARANASI: Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith will hold the next round of admission counselling for nine postgraduate and professional programmes on September 3, bringing applicants for education, humanities, social science, commerce and computer courses to a single venue.

Registrar Dr Sunita Pandey said the counselling will take place at the Faculty of Commerce and Management. The courses are MEd, MA English, PGDCA, Master of Social Work, MA Sociology, MA Journalism and Mass Communication, MA History, MA Psychology and MCom.

Candidates should treat the date as a document-verification appointment, not merely a visit to ask about seats. They should carry the application or registration record, entrance score where applicable, original academic certificates, category or reservation documents, photographs and any fee instrument specified by the university. A photocopy set arranged in the same order can save time at the desk.

The university notice as reported did not list separate reporting slots for each programme. Applicants should therefore check the official admission portal or department communication before travelling, particularly because heavy rain and waterlogging may slow access to the campus. Reaching early is safer than relying on the nominal distance from home.

Students whose final result or certificate is pending should not assume that a digital screenshot will be accepted. They need to verify whether a provisional document, undertaking or downloaded marksheet is permitted. Name and date-of-birth differences across certificates should be flagged immediately rather than hidden; a small spelling mismatch can block enrolment later.

Counselling is also the point to ask precise academic questions. Applicants should confirm the teaching campus, class timings, attendance rules, fee refund policy and whether a programme includes fieldwork, laboratory components or internships. In courses such as social work, journalism, psychology and PGDCA, the practical timetable can be as important as the syllabus title.

No applicant should pay money to an individual claiming to guarantee a seat. Fees must be deposited only through a university-authorised channel with a receipt. If the round depends on merit order or remaining vacancies, presence at the venue does not itself guarantee admission.

For nine departments, holding counselling on one day will create a concentrated administrative load. Clear signboards, separate queues and a help desk will matter, especially for students arriving from outside Varanasi.
