Teacher education colleges in Jharkhand still have seats to fill for the 2026-28 session, and the state's entrance board is giving candidates one more try at them. The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) has announced a special round of online counselling for B.Ed, M.Ed and B.P.Ed courses, with registration and choice filling open from Wednesday, 7 October, to Saturday, 10 October 2026.

The board's notice, Advertisement No. JCECEB/01/26-96 dated 6 October 2026, says the round is for seats that stayed vacant in teacher education institutions after the first, second, third and fourth rounds of online counselling.

Dates for the special round

The seat matrix was to be displayed on 6 October. Registration and choice filling began on 7 October and close on 10 October. Provisional seat allotment letters will be issued on Monday, 12 October, and document verification and admission at the allotted institutes will run from 13 to 16 October.

Choices are filled through the "Click here for All Online Counselling-JCECEB 2026" link on the board's website. There is no limit on how many institutes a candidate can choose, and the board advises candidates to pick as many as they can to improve their chances of an allotment.

Who is eligible

Any candidate in the state merit list for B.Ed, M.Ed or B.P.Ed can take part, provided they fall in one of three groups: those who did not take part in any of the four earlier rounds, those who took part but were not allotted a seat, and those who were allotted a seat but did not take admission.

Candidates who have already taken admission can also enter this round if they want to change their institute. The board attaches a clear condition. If such a candidate is allotted a new seat, admission in the new institute is compulsory, because the earlier admission is cancelled automatically. A candidate who is content with their current college should think carefully before entering the round.

The round is not a fresh entry point. Only candidates already on the state merit list prepared under the February admission advertisement can register, so anyone who did not apply or did not make the list earlier this year cannot use this round to get in. Candidates who are unsure of their status can check their merit list position on the board website before paying the fee.

Fee and reservation rules

The counselling fee is Rs 400 for General, EWS, BC-I and BC-II candidates and Rs 250 for SC and ST candidates and for women of all categories. It is paid online by credit card, debit card, net banking or UPI, and it is not refundable.

If reserved category candidates are not available for reserved seats, those seats will be dealt with under the resolution of the state's Department of Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Rajbhasha dated 15 February 2019. All other terms of the original admission advertisement, No. JCECEB/01/26-08 dated 24 February 2026, continue to apply.

Why the seat matters

A B.Ed is the professional qualification that most school teacher recruitments ask for at the upper primary and secondary levels, the B.P.Ed leads to physical education teaching, and the M.Ed prepares teacher educators. The notice does not say whether any further round will follow this one, so a candidate who missed out in four rounds should treat it as a real chance to join the 2026-28 batch rather than wait a year.

Candidates who are also preparing for eligibility tests can track the next CTET, scheduled for 12 and 13 December 2026. Those looking at jobs in Haryana can find the HTET details in our Haryana board and HTET 2026 guide.

The board has printed its contacts on the notice: email jceceboard@gmail.com and phone 9264473893. With registration closing on Saturday, candidates should keep their merit list details and a working payment method ready before they log in, and check the seat matrix first so their choices match the colleges that actually have vacancies.
