Chaos in Ardali Bazaar as SUV Drags College Student’s Bike for 700 Metres, Police Intervene

A major law-and-order situation erupted in Ardali Bazaar, Varanasi, after a speeding Fortuner SUV allegedly dragged a college student’s motorcycle for nearly 700 metres, triggering panic, public outrage, and stone-pelting in the area. The incident caused heavy traffic disruption and prompted immediate police intervention.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred when a Fortuner vehicle, allegedly being driven recklessly, collided with a two-wheeler belonging to a college student. Instead of stopping, the driver reportedly continued driving, dragging the bike along the road, which enraged locals and passersby. Within minutes, the area witnessed chaos as people gathered and raised slogans against the reckless act.
Police Intervention and Temporary Unrest
On receiving information, Cantt Police rushed to the spot and managed to control the situation. Tension escalated briefly when a few individuals resorted to stone-pelting, prompting police to deploy additional forces to prevent the situation from worsening. Traffic movement remained disrupted for a considerable time before being restored.
Both parties were later brought to the police station, where discussions were held in the presence of officials. After preliminary inquiry and mediation, the matter was settled mutually, and legal action was initiated as per procedural norms.
Crackdown on Cow Smuggling Intensified
Meanwhile, senior police officials have directed increased patrolling across Ring Road and adjoining areas following reports of cow smuggling activities. Special checking drives have been launched, and instructions have been issued to maintain strict vigilance, especially during late-night hours.
Authorities have reiterated that any attempt to disturb law and order or violate animal protection laws will be dealt with sternly.
