The weather in Varanasi is expected to witness a significant change as the India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert warning of strong winds and rainfall in the region.

According to the forecast, wind speeds may reach 50–60 km per hour, accompanied by intermittent light to moderate rainfall, which could disrupt normal life in parts of the city. The weather system is linked to changing atmospheric conditions affecting several districts across Uttar Pradesh.

Officials said gusty winds are likely to continue through the day, with periodic rain showers expected to impact traffic movement and outdoor activities. Similar disturbances have also been reported in other parts of the state, where hailstorm warnings and thunderstorms have been issued in western districts.

Meteorologists have indicated that the unstable weather pattern may persist over the weekend, meaning residents could experience fluctuating conditions for the next couple of days. Strong winds combined with rainfall may also lead to temporary disruptions in daily routines.

Another noticeable impact will likely be a drop in temperature, with estimates suggesting a fall of around 4–5°C in both daytime and nighttime temperatures. While the cooling may provide some relief from rising heat levels, authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious.

Residents have been advised to stay updated with official weather advisories, avoid unnecessary travel during strong winds, and take precautions during outdoor activities.

Under the IMD’s warning system, an orange alert indicates that people should remain alert and be prepared for potentially disruptive weather conditions.
