HSVP Clears Eatery and Warehouses in Sector 18

GURUGRAM: The Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran on Friday carried out a demolition drive on acquired land in Sector 18, clearing a roadside eatery, two scrap warehouses, seven temporary kiosks and a weighbridge.

Police were deployed during the operation. No resistance was reported at the site. Officials treated the structures as encroachments on land already acquired for planned use, and the afternoon drive removed them in one pass rather than leaving a staggered clearance calendar.

Sector 18 sits in an industrial and logistics belt where temporary eateries, scrap yards and weighbridges often appear along acquired edges. HSVP's list, one eatery, two scrap warehouses, seven kiosks and a weighbridge, shows the drive mixed food, scrap and commercial roadside uses rather than a single building type.

Acquired land and same-week enforcement

The Sector 18 action came in the same enforcement window as DTCP demolitions of unauthorised colony infrastructure in Sultanpur and a commercial market in Alimuddinpur, and show-cause notices in a Sector 70A builder colony. Together, the agencies are signalling that both revenue-estate plotting and encroachments on acquired urban land are under active watch.

For scrap traders and kiosk operators along the Sector 18 edge, Friday's clearance removes informal footholds that had no licence on HSVP land. For the authority, reclaiming the strip matters because acquired parcels that stay occupied become harder to hand over for intended roads, utilities or industrial plots. Police presence without a clash suggests the structures came down after field teams and local police coordinated the timing.

HSVP has not published a follow-up list of other Sector 18 pockets in the same statement, but the composition of what was removed, food, scrap, kiosks and a weighbridge, matches the mix of temporary commerce that typically returns if watch drops. Industrial plot users nearby will notice whether the cleared edge stays clear or fills again with the same shed pattern. Friday's drive puts that question on the civic record for Sector 18.

Field staff said the weighbridge and scrap sheds had drawn the most local attention because they signalled a semi-permanent foothold on acquired land rather than a night stall. Removing seven kiosks in the same pass was meant to stop the edge from filling again the next morning. HSVP will still need patrols on the cleared strip, because temporary commerce in Sector 18 has a habit of returning when enforcement cycles slow.

Industrial allottees who use the corridor for staff and material movement gain a clearer verge if the land stays empty. The Friday drive does not by itself announce a new sector layout, but it does show HSVP treating acquired edges as enforcement targets alongside DTCP's colony and market actions elsewhere in the district the same week.
