Historic Pishach Mochan Kund to Get Modern Facilities Under Varanasi Beautification Plan

Pishach Mochan Kund in Varanasi is set for a grand transformation, bringing a major boost to pilgrim facilities and heritage beautification in the spiritual capital of India. The historic and religiously significant kund will undergo extensive cleaning and redevelopment, with beautifully designed pathways being constructed around it to ensure smoother movement for devotees.
As part of the makeover, the surrounding area will be enhanced with artistic wall paintings, comfortable seating benches, and protective canopies to shield visitors from harsh sunlight and rain. Decorative street lighting will illuminate the pathways at night, adding to the divine ambiance of the sacred site.
The park located near the kund will also be beautified, while a dedicated and well-organized space will be developed near the temple premises for conducting rituals and Chhath Puja ceremonies. Special arrangements will be made to manage heavy crowds during festivals and religious occasions.
Tourism infrastructure in the nearby areas will also see significant improvements. The route connecting to the iconic Dashashwamedh Ghat will be upgraded, non-functional water fountains at the Dashashwamedh–Godowlia stretch will be restarted, and brighter decorative lighting will replace old streetlights to enhance the visual appeal for visitors.
Additionally, authorities have ordered immediate repairs of damaged stone pavements near the revered Kashi Vishwanath Temple to ensure safety and convenience for pilgrims.
This ambitious redevelopment project aims to preserve Kashi’s ancient spiritual heritage while providing modern, world-class amenities for thousands of devotees and tourists visiting the city every day.
