Haryana PG Provisional Merit List Released; Final List Due on 24 August

Haryana’s centralised admissions process for postgraduate courses moved into its first merit stage on Sunday evening, when the Directorate of Higher Education displayed the provisional list for the 2026-27 session at 6 pm on 23 August.

Applicants who registered for PG courses in participating Haryana colleges should check their own status through the official admissions portal. A forwarded PDF, coaching-group message or another candidate’s screenshot cannot establish an applicant’s position. The portal holds the individual record that matters.

The list follows an extended application cycle. PG registration ran from 17 July to 21 August, while applicants could edit their forms until 22 August. Colleges were given until 5 pm on 23 August to verify documents and applicants could remove objections or discrepancies through their login during that period. The provisional list was scheduled one hour after that verification window closed.

The department’s portal says ranks are generated from qualifying-examination marks and applicable weightage, with merit lists prepared according to ranking and the reservation policy. Candidates should therefore compare the displayed details with the information in their submitted form instead of trying to reverse-engineer a cut-off from unverified lists circulating online.

What applicants should check now

The safest route is to type admissions.highereduhry.ac.in directly, open Student Login and choose the postgraduate first-year option. The login accepts a registration ID, registered mobile number or email address as the user ID, along with the candidate’s password.

After signing in, applicants should note the programme, college preference, category and merit or allocation status shown against their application. They should save a copy for their records, but remember that this is the provisional stage. Anyone who sees a mismatch should contact the college or the official admissions help channel promptly and keep a written record of the query.

The earlier verification process is relevant here. According to the portal, applications were routed to colleges on the basis of the applicant’s first preference. Colleges checked the forms and documents, and an SMS or email alert was to be sent where an objection was raised. A candidate who received such an alert should confirm that the corrected submission is reflected in the account rather than assume that pressing “submit” settled the issue.

The admission calendar after the provisional list

The final PG merit list is scheduled for 24 August. The published timetable does not specify an hour, so applicants should check the portal periodically without relying on a time claimed by an unofficial website.

Candidates whose names appear in the final merit list can submit the first-round admission fee from 25 to 27 August. The portal says payment may be made in the permitted online or offline mode within the scheduled period. Once payment is confirmed, a receipt is generated and the admission is treated as confirmed. That receipt should be downloaded and preserved; a bank debit message alone is not the same as confirmation in the admission system.

The next phase concerns seats left after the first round. Physical counselling for leftover seats is listed for 28 August. The online portal will reopen on 29 August for registration and editing, followed by continued physical counselling from 30 August to 5 September with a late fee of Rs 100.

A later window runs from 6 to 12 September with a charge of Rs 100 plus Rs 100 per day. Those late-fee provisions belong to the later physical-counselling phase; they should not be confused with the first-round fee-payment window. A vacant-seat round is also not a promise that every course or college will reopen. Availability will depend on what remains after confirmed admissions.

A provisional ranking is not a finished admission

The most important distinction for families is between seeing a name in a provisional list and completing admission. The first gives an applicant a position to verify. The second requires the final list, payment within the notified dates and a portal-generated receipt.

Students should keep their application form, uploaded certificates and payment method ready before the fee window opens. They should also review the actual course and college shown in the account, including travel and accommodation costs, rather than paying in haste simply because a name appears on the screen.

Login credentials and one-time passwords should remain private. Haryana’s admission season, like most large online counselling exercises, attracts lookalike links and people claiming they can alter a preference or secure a seat for a fee. No outside agent can legitimately change the department’s merit calculation.

For now, the practical sequence is short: check the provisional entry, wait for the final list on 24 August, and, if selected, complete payment between 25 and 27 August. Applicants who do not receive a first-round place can then assess the official leftover-seat position before deciding whether to attend physical counselling.
