DC Opens Helpline for Gurugram Families Tracing Kin After Nepal Floods

GURUGRAM: The Office of the Deputy Commissioner has asked anyone with information about a city resident missing or untraceable after the Nepal flash floods to call 112, the camp office helpline 0124-2320508, or email ctmgrg@hry.nic.in.

In a public appeal posted on Friday, the DC’s office said: “In view of the recent flash floods in Nepal, citizens are requested to inform the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Gurugram if they have information about any person residing in Gurugram who may be missing or untraced in connection with the incident. Control Room: 112, Helpline: 0124-2320508, Email: ctmgrg@hry.nic.in.”

The same note said information would be compiled and shared with the agencies concerned “to facilitate tracing, coordination and assistance to affected families.” Citizens were asked to share the appeal widely. Callers are to give the person’s name, Gurugram address, a contact number, and any details of travel or last-known location.

The floods struck the Bhotekoshi belt on 26 August, sending water, sediment and boulders through the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli systems from the Tibet–Nepal border. Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday opened an Emergency Control Room for foreign nationals affected in Rasuwa, to coordinate search and rescue, information checks and consular help. Nepal’s foreign ministry said on Friday that 538 bodies had been recovered. Nepal Police put the number still unaccounted for at 2,381, including 644 foreign nationals, of whom 178 were Indian. Rescue teams had brought out 1,545 people.

Gurugram’s lines are a local intake, not a search party in the hills. The email ctmgrg@hry.nic.in is the City Magistrate ID listed for the first floor of the Mini Secretariat. Control room 112 is the statewide emergency number already staffed around the clock. The camp-office helpline 0124-2320508 sits with the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

The administration has not released a count of Gurugram residents reported missing. It has asked people not to wait if they have a credible lead. Nepal’s ECR remains the consular desk for foreign nationals; the district will pass compiled names to the agencies running the trace, including mission channels that sit on that ECR.

Damaged roads and bridges on the Nepal side have slowed the search. For families in this district the practical step the DC has put on paper is the three contacts — 112, 0124-2320508 and the CTM email — with as much of the person’s Gurugram address and travel trail as they can give.
