Dengue Tally Reaches 35 After Two Fresh Friday Cases

GURUGRAM: The district health department confirmed two fresh dengue cases on Friday, taking the season’s tally to 35. Eleven dengue patients and one malaria patient have been confirmed in the past seven days.

Teams visited 1,243 houses on Friday as part of the rapid fever mass survey. Across the year, the department said, 10,63,458 houses have been covered under that survey for dengue control. Notices have gone to 1,678 houses so far. Malaria cases this year stand at five.

The Friday additions follow a week in which the confirmed dengue count had stood at 29. The department has not named the localities of the two new patients, nor has it reported a dengue death. Field teams, it said, are visiting the areas from which cases are coming, surveying neighbouring houses and briefing residents on malaria precautions as well.

Standing water after rain is the breeding setting the department is pointing to. Anti-larva teams are putting chemical in stored and stagnant water under the monsoon campaign. The same note links waterlogging in the city to the rise in mosquito-borne infection risk. No ward or sector has been flagged in the Friday figures as a single hotspot.

What Friday’s numbers show

The house-survey total — more than 10.6 lakh dwellings — is a cumulative figure from January, not a one-day sweep. Friday’s 1,243 visits sit on top of that. The 1,678 notices are the enforcement end of the same drive: households where teams have found conditions that attract larvae. The malaria count of five for the year, against 35 dengue, is the other half of the vector bulletin issued with the dengue update.

Seven-day numbers set the pace. Eleven dengue confirmations in a week, two of them on Friday, is what the department has now put on record. One malaria confirmation in the same seven days takes the 2026 malaria total to five.

Friday’s note does not list how many dengue samples or malaria slides were drawn that day. It does give the house visits, the notice stock, the two new dengue patients, the seven-day dengue and malaria split, and the year-to-date malaria figure.

The department’s public instruction with the tally is practical: empty or cover coolers, drums and roof tanks, and allow spraying where water cannot be drained. The Friday account does not claim the anti-larva round has broken transmission. It records that spraying is on, that 1,243 houses were visited that day, and that the confirmed dengue count is now 35.
