NEW DELHI: A Pixel 11 bought from Google Store in India cannot be returned for a refund or exchanged because you changed your mind. Google's India help page says products bought on the store "cannot be refunded or exchanged", and the only routes back are a defect claim or a price match within 15 days of delivery. That matters this festive season, with the Pixel 11 listed at Rs 89,999 and the Pixel 11 Pro from Rs 1,19,999 on the store. Price as of 22 October 2026, 9:40 PM IST.

The rule sits in Google's Terms of Sale for Devices for India, the contract with Google Information Services India Private Limited, which runs the store from Gurugram. Section 16 says a device "cannot be refunded or exchanged, unless you receive a Device with a manufacturing defect". Google's general store help page tells most buyers they can return items within 15 days of receiving them, which is where much of the confusion comes from. The India page overrides that.

If the phone is dead or faulty in the first 14 days

Google's Dead After Purchase policy covers Pixel phones, Pixel Buds and Pixel Watch bought in India, both online and at shops. It applies if the device does not work when you open the box, or stops working within 14 days of the purchase date.

You have to contact Google support first, through the Pixel phone, Buds or Watch help pages. The agent checks the purchase date against your original invoice. Pack the device in its original box with all accessories and the invoice. Google can send a courier to collect it, or you can take it to a walk-in service centre.

The repair centre then diagnoses the device under Google's hardware warranty policy. If it is found defective, Google sends a replacement to your delivery address or to the centre you used. If no defect is found, the device comes back to you as it is.

The Dead on Arrival policy is narrower. It applies only to Pixel devices bought at a physical shop, when the device fails as you open it or set it up inside the shop. The shop then gives you a new unit on the spot and updates the IMEI on your bill, and the new device carries the standard one year Pixel warranty. Anything you find after leaving the shop falls under the Dead After Purchase route.

The 15-day price match is the only money-back route

Google Store's price match page says requests from users in India qualify only for price reductions on Google Store itself. A lower price at Amazon, Flipkart or any other retailer does not count. The request must reach Google within 15 days of the delivery date.

The lower price has to be for the same model, colour and storage, and must still be live when you ask. Google wants a working public link, not a screenshot or PDF. Phones bought on a payment plan, open-box or refurbished items and printed coupons are excluded, and the refund cannot be more than what you paid after trade-in credit.

This is worth watching with festive offers that keep changing. Google Store currently shows up to Rs 26,000 of value on the Pixel 11, built from a store discount, an exchange bonus and bank cashback, and up to Rs 19,000 on the Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL. If Google cuts the list price itself within your 15 days, file a request. A new bank offer alone does not lower the store price.

Promotions, pricing errors and complaints

The terms set out what happens to freebies on a defect return. If you return a phone bought with a promotional item and keep the item, its full value is deducted from the refund. Google also keeps the right to cancel an order placed at a clearly wrong price, and must offer you the correct price first if you have not been charged.

For an unresolved complaint, the terms name a grievance officer, Suraj Rao, at support-in@google.com. Put "[gstore order]" in the subject line. Google commits to acknowledge the complaint within 48 hours and resolve it within one month. Disputes fall under the courts in Delhi.

What this means before you pay

Decide on colour and storage before you check out, because there is no exchange for a different variant later. Record a short unboxing video and keep the box, invoice and charger, which the Dead After Purchase process asks for. Check the store price again on day 10 or so after delivery, in case a price match applies.
