GGSIPU withholds Spot Round 2 online allotment after counselling software error; fee and reporting reset to 24 August

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has put Spot Round 2 (Online) results on hold. Notification No. 208/2026, dated 22 August 2026, says some candidates who thought they had been allotted seats appear to have been given those seats by mistake because of a technical error in the counselling software. The university is rechecking and revising the results before anyone treats an allotment as final.
The freeze covers BCA (Code 114), BBA including the five-year BBA–MBA integrated track (Code 125), B.Tech (Code 131), B.Com (H) (Code 146) and BA/BBA LLB (Code 121). Candidates who saw a seat on the portal after Spot Round 2 should not rush fee payment or college reporting until the revised result is out.
Why the university withheld the list
The Academic Branch says candidates who were allotted seats in Spot Round 2 flagged problems. On verification, a few allotments looked inadvertent and were traced to a software fault. In the interest of participating candidates, GGSIPU has ordered a recheck and a revised result for the five programmes named above.
Director-Incharge (Academic) Prof. Udayan Ghose has signed the withhold notice. The university tells everyone to watch www.ipu.ac.in and https://ipu.admissions.nic.in for updates rather than rely on screenshots of the earlier allotment screen.
Fee and reporting calendar moved to 24 August
A same-day companion notice revises the post-allotment calendar once the revised Spot Round 2 result is declared. Part Academic Fee is Rs 96,000, payable only through net banking, credit card or debit card. Payment opens after the online result is declared and closes at 02:00 PM on 24 August 2026. The notice warns candidates to pay as soon as the result appears; with little time left, an extension may not be possible.
Printing of the provisional seat allotment letter is listed for 24 August 2026. Mandatory physical reporting at the allotted USS/institute/college is fixed for the same day, 24 August 2026, from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM, with documents in hand. Modes of admission referenced in the fee notice are CET for BCA, BBA and B.Com (H), NLT–JEE Main Paper 1 for B.Tech, and CLAT UG for LLB.
What candidates should do this weekend
Do not treat the earlier Spot Round 2 screen as final. Wait for the rechecked result on the university and NIC admission sites. When it appears, pay the Rs 96,000 part fee before the 24 August 02:00 PM cut-off, print the provisional allotment letter, and report to the allotted college between 09:00 AM and 05:00 PM the same day if a seat is shown.
Other terms of the earlier Spot Round 2 online counselling notification dated 14 August 2026 remain unchanged except for the revised fee and reporting dates. As of Sunday, 23 August 2026, the revised allotment file itself had not yet replaced the withheld result — candidates should refresh both official sites through Monday morning before planning travel.
