Oil marketing companies recently increased the price of domestic LPG cylinders across the country by around ₹60, adding further pressure on middle-class and lower-income families. Women in Varanasi said that cooking gas is an essential part of every household, and even a small increase in price affects the overall monthly expenses.

Many homemakers stated that they are already struggling to manage rising costs of food, electricity, and other daily necessities. With the price of LPG cylinders going up, balancing the household budget is becoming even more difficult.
