Fake SIT and Anti-Corruption Team Busted in Varanasi, Three Including Woman Arrested

Police have arrested three fake officials in Varanasi’s Jal Kal Department who were posing as Anti-Corruption and SIT members to threaten employees under the pretext of investigation and complaint letters. The accused had reached the department with forged documents to extort money from employees. Acting on a complaint, the police arrived and arrested all three, including a woman.
On seeing the police, the fake officers tried to flee but were caught by the constables. They were taken into custody and brought to the police station, where interrogation revealed their involvement in multiple such cases. For several days, they had been targeting employees of the Jal Kal Department.
The accused used to impersonate Anti-Corruption and SIT inspectors to intimidate victims, extort money, and then move on to new targets. Recently, they threatened an employee, Himanshu Srivastava, claiming there was a complaint filed against him and demanded money.
All three accused Saurabh Gawa, Firoz Ahmed, and Sakshi Saxena are residents of Udham Singh Nagar in Uttarakhand. A case has been registered against them, and they will be presented in court by Bhelupur Police. Further investigations are underway to trace other members of the gang.
