DU Spot Round I Opens With 13,433 UG Seats Vacant Across 67 Colleges

Delhi University has listed 13,433 undergraduate seats as vacant for Spot Round I of its 2026 admission process, giving candidates who remain without an allotment another opportunity to enter a university college this year.

The university published the college-wise and programme-wise vacancy matrix on August 23, 2026. The figures reflect the position at 1 pm that day and cover 67 colleges participating in the Common Seat Allocation System for undergraduate admissions, or CSAS UG.

Applications for the spot round will remain open until 11.59 pm on August 24. The university is scheduled to declare the allocation result on August 25.

Who can participate in DU Spot Round I?

The round is meant for candidates who registered for CSAS UG 2026 but did not hold an admission in any Delhi University programme on or after the relevant August 22 cut-off. Applicants who are already admitted are not eligible to use this round merely to seek an upgrade or a preferred college.

Candidates should check their status on the CSAS dashboard before proceeding. Eligibility will be determined from the university’s admission records, not simply from whether an applicant attended classes or intended to retain an earlier seat.

Eligible candidates must log in to their CSAS dashboard, select the available programmes and colleges in which they are willing to take admission, and submit their preferences before the deadline. They should include only combinations they are genuinely prepared to accept because an allocation in a spot round is governed by stricter conditions than a regular upgrade round.

The university has also suspended withdrawals during the spot-round process. Candidates should therefore review the programme, college, category and fee requirements carefully before submitting their choices.

Category-wise vacancies

Of the 13,433 seats shown in the university’s matrix, 2,113 are in the unreserved category. The list includes 4,133 OBC-NCL seats, 2,038 SC seats, 2,476 ST seats and 1,791 EWS seats.

The matrix also shows 316 seats under the Christian category and 566 under the Sikh category in the relevant minority colleges. Availability differs considerably between colleges and programmes, so the overall total should not be treated as the number of seats open to every applicant.

Admission will depend on the candidate’s category, programme eligibility, CUET performance where applicable, submitted preferences and the university’s allocation rules. Candidates must consult the official vacancy document rather than rely solely on the aggregate number.

Delhi University has cautioned that the displayed vacancy position may change because colleges could still be reconciling admissions, withdrawals, cancellations and pending grievances. The final number available during allocation may therefore differ in some programme-category combinations.

Allocation and acceptance schedule

The Spot Round I allocation will be announced on August 25. Selected candidates will have from August 25 to August 27 to accept the offered seat through their admission dashboard.

Colleges will examine and verify online applications until 4.59 pm on August 28. Candidates whose applications are approved must complete the online fee payment by the stipulated deadline of August 29.

Simply receiving an allocation does not complete admission. The applicant must accept it within the prescribed period, respond to any college query, ensure that the application is approved and pay the admission fee on time. Failure at any of these stages may result in the allotted seat being cancelled.

Applicants should keep their Class X and XII certificates, category documents, CUET details and other applicable records ready for online scrutiny. Names, dates and category information should match the documents uploaded to the admission portal.

With more than 13,000 vacancies displayed, Spot Round I offers a substantial late-stage opportunity. However, the seats are spread across numerous programmes and reservation categories, making careful preference selection more important than the headline total.
