DU Adds Nine Colleges to Class XII Marks-Based Admission Route

Delhi University has brought nine more colleges under its Class XII marks-based undergraduate admission initiative for 2026-27, expanding a special route that does not use Common University Entrance Test scores for the notified programmes.

The university issued the latest notice on August 23, 2026, in continuation of its August 21 announcement. With the latest addition, applicants can approach a wider set of colleges for selected programmes in which seats remain available.

The nine institutions named in the new notice are Indraprastha College for Women, Mata Sundri College for Women, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College, Sri Aurobindo College Evening, Motilal Nehru College Evening, Shyam Lal College Evening, Ramanujan College, Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences and Gargi College.

Courses covered by the new notice

At Indraprastha College for Women, the notified courses are BA (Honours) Sanskrit and BA (Honours) Hindi. Mata Sundri College for Women has been included for BSc (Honours) Mathematics.

Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College will consider applications for BA (Honours) Punjabi, BSc (Honours) Mathematics, BA (Honours) Hindi and BA (Honours) Hindi Patrakarita. The inclusion of language, journalism and mathematics courses gives applicants options across both humanities and science disciplines.

Sri Aurobindo College Evening, Motilal Nehru College Evening and Shyam Lal College Evening have notified BA (Honours) Hindi along with specified BA Programme combinations. Candidates interested in the BA Programme must check the college notice carefully because eligibility and seat availability apply to the particular subject combinations listed by each institution.

Ramanujan College has joined the process for BA (Honours) Hindi, while Gargi College has been included for BA (Honours) Sanskrit.

Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences is offering the widest science-focused selection in this batch: BSc (Honours) Electronics, BSc (Honours) Instrumentation and BSc (Honours) Polymer Science.

The availability of a programme in the notice does not guarantee admission. Colleges will consider applications against actual vacancies and according to the applicable merit and eligibility conditions.

Admission will be based on Class XII performance

For the courses covered by the initiative, selection will be based on marks obtained in the Class XII board examination rather than CUET UG 2026 scores. Applicants must satisfy the programme-specific subject requirements and any other conditions prescribed by Delhi University and the individual college.

Candidates should not assume that their overall board percentage alone will be used in every case. The calculation may depend on the subjects required for a particular programme. Applicants should confirm whether they studied the necessary subject or subject combination and how the college will prepare its merit list.

The application and admission process is being handled by the participating colleges. Students should consult the relevant college website and admission notice for the application method, documentary requirements, merit-list schedule, fee deadline and number of available seats.

Candidates should keep their Class X certificate, Class XII marksheet and certificate, identity document, photographs and applicable category certificates ready. Any mismatch in a candidate’s name, marks, subjects or reservation documents could delay scrutiny.

Students already admitted to DU are not eligible

Delhi University has made one restriction explicit: a student who has already secured admission in any university college cannot apply through this route. The initiative is intended to fill remaining vacancies and provide an opportunity to eligible students who do not currently hold a DU admission.

It is not an upgrade mechanism for candidates seeking to move from an existing programme or college. An already admitted student should therefore not cancel a seat on the assumption that admission through the Class XII route will be automatic.

The university first introduced colleges under this merit-based arrangement before adding further institutions in successive notices. The August 23 notification is the third part of that expansion and must be read with the earlier directions.

For applicants who either did not obtain a suitable CUET-based allocation or are looking at one of the specifically notified courses, the expansion provides another possible entry point into Delhi University. Since applications are college-led and vacancy-dependent, candidates should act promptly while verifying every deadline from the institution concerned.
